IMG Observership Program

About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) who are Australian citizens or permanent residents and currently residing in Western Australia to gain an orientation to the WA healthcare system - at Peel Health Campus in Mandurah, WA; via an observership program. This program is specifically designed for IMGs without any current work experience in the Western Australian healthcare system.

If you are currently working within the WA healthcare system and seeking further employment options, please look out for opportunities that are advertised on MedCareersWA.

The Program

The program involves a clinical observership (generally 6-10 weeks in duration, depending on individual knowledge and experience) and access to the hospital’s clinical teaching and educational resources. Observerships will commence from February 2025.

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria, and successfully complete the requirements of the observership program may then apply to participate in a 12-month Workplace based assessment (WBA) Program at Peel Health Campus (Peel Health Campus is currently seeking accreditation from the Australian Medical Council (AMC) to establish a WBA program commencing in mid to late 2025). Please note that acceptance into the observership program does not guarantee automatic acceptance into the WBA program. Selection into the WBA program is separate to the application for the observership program and will be advertised at a later date.

If you are currently registered to work in Australia and are seeking opportunities to participate in WBA programs in WA, please visit the WA Health website for detailed information.
