POSITION PROFILE
Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital, The Rural Clinical School and WACHS (Goldfields) is pleased to offer a unique training position for an Advanced Trainee in Paediatrics.
The position is based in Kalgoorlie and includes acute, emergency, Neonatal high dependency care and outpatient paediatrics experience. There is 50% allocation of time to teaching, research, academic and remote work. There will be the opportunity to participate in remote area clinics.
Good communication skills and experience working with Aboriginal families would be of great benefit in this position. This position would suit someone with a passion for Aboriginal and rural health who is planning a career in rural and remote paediatrics.
You will be working with a team of experienced rural paediatricians and several registrars and RMOs.
There is a strong team of resident consultant paediatricians providing close supervision and support in each of our hospitals while also giving opportunities for independent practice.
The position is offered for a 12-month term although 6-month terms can be considered.

SALARY
Registrar Year 1-7 $146,579 to $195,662 p.a.*
*includes base salary $120,492 to $164,513 pa, professional development allowance $10,969 pa and 11.5% employer contributed superannuation. Rates as 3 September 2024.
Senior Registrar Year 1-2, $214,484 to $224,214 p.a.*
*includes base salary $176,691 to $185,418 pa, professional development allowance $15,671 pa and 11.5% employer contributed superannuation. Rates as 3 September 2024.
Appointment will be made based on assessment of relevant skills and experience.

Essential
1. Eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia.
2. Enrolled in Paediatrics Training Program, Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) or equivalent programs and demonstrates satisfactory progression appropriate for an advanced trainee.
3. Demonstrated current clinical experience in paediatrics and the management of acutely unwell children and neonates.
4. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with highly developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
5. Commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching of resident, nursing staff and medical students.
6. Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance (Patient Safety and Quality), quality assurance, continuous improvement, and clinical research in the field of paediatrics and adolescent health.
7. Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the Aboriginal Cultural Respect Framework.
8. Current C Class driver’s license and an ability and willingness to travel including overnight stays away from home.
9. Experienced or interest in rural paediatric practice in rural setting.
Desirable
1. Possession of current Advanced Life Support, Advanced Paediatric Life Support or Emergency Management of Severe Trauma certificates.
2. Demonstrated ability to monitor and review own effectiveness.
3. Experience working with clients from a variety of cultural / ethnic backgrounds
