Join our dynamic Medical Services team as a Lead Senior Medical Practitioner (SMP), where you'll play a crucial role in delivering exceptional healthcare to Esperance and the surrounding communities.
This is a recruitment pool to fill Permanent (Sessional, Part-Time or Full Time) and Fixed Term (Sessional, Part-Time or Full Time). Fixed Term appointments include the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.
We currently have 1 Fixed Term, Full Time position available. Additionally, more positions will be available in the future.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 27/02/2026.
About the Role:
The Lead Senior Medical Practitioner will oversee the management and governance of salaried SMP’s, Locums and General Practitioners and Visiting Specialist, including GP Anaesthetists and GP Obstetricians. Your key responsibilities include providing professional support, development, and mentorship to our clinical staff, fostering their growth, and ensuring exceptional patient care. Occasionally, you may be required to work shifts in the Emergency Department on an ad-hoc basis. Skills in Anaesthetics, Obstetrics, or Surgery are highly desirable for this role.

About Esperance Hospital:
Esperance Health Campus is the major Integrated District Health Service for Esperance and surrounding south-east coast region. The hospital houses 12 treatment areas in ED, two state-of-the art resus bays, acute mental health assessment room, isolation room, two private consulting rooms and a procedure room. It has two operating theatres, a new operating theatre, a day surgery unit, anew obstetrics wing with two labour delivery rooms, single private rooms, and a specialised nursery.
