Are you a Paediatrician looking for a diverse and unique role in regional Western Australia?

Look no further!

About the Role:

WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is actively seeking experienced Consultant Paediatricians, registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), to deliver high-quality paediatric healthcare across regional hospitals.

WACHS is excited to be expanding its developmental paediatric services. As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive care, we are prioritising general paediatricians with a special interest in developmental paediatrics. This is an outstanding opportunity for those keen to make a significant impact in a high-demand field while working with regional families in need of these services.

Our paediatric departments manage a wide range of cases, from general paediatrics to neonatal and developmental care. As a Consultant Paediatrician, you will lead the delivery of inpatient and outpatient paediatric patient services, often collaborating with Clinical Nurse Specialists in Paediatrics through outreach services to ensure consistent, high-quality care across regional centres.

You will also guide and support trainees, including Registrars and Residents in accredited Paediatric training positions, while mentoring Junior Medical Officers and medical students in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment alongside Allied Health Professionals. Additional responsibilities include active participation in clinical governance and policy development to elevate paediatric healthcare standards across the region.

About our Regions:

The state's varied landscape comprises seven distinct regions, each offering unique lifestyle advantages alongside delivering vital healthcare services. From serene beaches and rugged outback to thriving vineyards and lush forests, our locations provide an appealing backdrop for both work and leisure. Our major regional centres are:

  • Goldfields region – Kalgoorlie Hospital and Esperance Hospital: Step into a town steeped in Australia’s rich mining history, where the outback spirit thrives. Kalgoorlie offers a welcoming, tight-knit community. In contrast, Esperance is renowned for its pristine white-sand beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters.
  • Great Southern region – Albany Health Campus: Enjoy pristine beaches, dramatic cliffs, and lush forests, making it an ideal location for outdoor enthusiasts.
  • Kimberley region - Broome Hospital: Revel in the rugged and captivating region renowned for its ancient landscapes, indigenous culture, and stunning coastal vistas, including the famous Cable Beach sunsets in Broome.
  • South West region – Bunbury Health Campus & Busselton Health Campus: Discover a laid-back lifestyle with access to hiking diverse landscapes, sampling local wines and gourmet food, or relaxing on pristine beaches.
  • Midwest region – Geraldton Health Campus: On the Batavia Coast is renowned for its rich maritime history at the Museum of Geraldton and abundant local seafood, enjoyed alongside pristine beaches like Turquoise Bay and Coral Bay.
  • Pilbara - Hedland Health Campus and Karratha Health Campus: Offers a unique lifestyle including pristine beaches along the Indian Ocean, stunning gorges like Karijini National Park's deep red cliffs and waterfalls, and vibrant indigenous culture.
  • Wheatbelt – Northam Health Service and Narrogin Health Service: Where rolling fields meet welcoming communities. Enjoy the peaceful wheatbelt lifestyle while providing a meaningful difference.

Our preference is for candidates to reside in the communities they serve, fostering deeper connections, cultural understanding, and a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of the region.
