About the Role:
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is actively seeking experienced Consultant Paediatricians, registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), to deliver high-quality paediatric healthcare across regional hospitals.
WACHS is excited to be expanding its developmental paediatric services. As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive care, we are prioritising general paediatricians with a special interest in developmental paediatrics. This is an outstanding opportunity for those keen to make a significant impact in a high-demand field while working with regional families in need of these services.
Our paediatric departments manage a wide range of cases, from general paediatrics to neonatal and developmental care. As a Consultant Paediatrician, you will lead the delivery of inpatient and outpatient paediatric patient services, often collaborating with Clinical Nurse Specialists in Paediatrics through outreach services to ensure consistent, high-quality care across regional centres.
You will also guide and support trainees, including Registrars and Residents in accredited Paediatric training positions, while mentoring Junior Medical Officers and medical students in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment alongside Allied Health Professionals. Additional responsibilities include active participation in clinical governance and policy development to elevate paediatric healthcare standards across the region.

Remuneration:
The advertised salary range is based on classifications under the WA Health System – Medical Practitioners – AMA Industrial Agreement 2024. Classification and level are determined by factors including qualifications, experience, type of medical registration, location, and specialist assessment outcomes from the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP).

About the Pool:
Joining the Consultant Paediatrician pool means submitting one application to be considered for multiple positions across WA Country Health Service (WACHS) throughout its duration. Applicants are asked to indicate their preferred region when completing the MedCareersWA online application form. As part of the assessment process, applicants will participate in an interview to determine their suitability for the pool. Applications will be assessed monthly with closing dates for each round being 20 January, 17 February and 31 March 2025 to streamline the process. You can specify your preferred locations and availability with your application. Please note that FTE varies across each region and this will be discussed at interview or following your suitability to the pool. The pool will close on Monday 31st March 2025.
