Application Process

The application process for the WAICTP is separate to the centralised recruitment application process for RMOs and Service Medical or Surgical Registrars.

Recruitment to the pathway and ongoing employment

The WAICTP will be advertised on MedCareersWA.  Applications open early March, with successful applicants interviewed in late April/early May.

The WAICTP oversees the selection process, appointments, and rotations for trainees in Phase 0, Phase 1, and Phase 2 of training with the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM).

The combined selection process and appointment of positions for the Pathway are managed by the WAICTP Selection Committee, which includes representatives from the participating hospitals.

The recruitment pool is managed by WA Country Health Service, with employment contracts issued directly by Health Service Providers (HSP) based on training rotation allocations.

Training rotations available at the participating hospitals allow access to mandatory training rotations and required training time specified by the CICM Training Program.

This structure ensures trainees gain diverse experiences across different hospital settings, including tertiary, outer metropolitan, and rural services.
