Western Australian Inter-Hospital Rotating Trainee Scheme 2025 Registrar Intake.

This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time appointments for 6-12 months with the possibility of extension(s).

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/12/2024.

Appointments for this position will not commence until 2025.


Position Profile: The Registrar – Trainee – Palliative Care will provide high quality palliative care to hospital, hospice and community patients and their families, assess acute patients, prescribe treatment and decide on suitability for admission, and attend outpatient clinics where required by the local Head of Palliative Care. Allocation to specific sites will be arranged during the interview and selection process with consideration given to the individual training needs of successful applicants including completion of mandatory modules for palliative care advanced trainees.

Applicants will be considered for various positions across the Metropolitan Health Service participating in the Inter-Hospital Rotating Scheme (IHRS) including: Royal Perth Hospital RPH); Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH); and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH).

Area Profiles:
Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is located at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 4km from Perth city centre, SCGH provides a comprehensive range of clinical service including trauma, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, general medicine, general surgery and cardiac care. It is home to WA's only comprehensive cancer centre - the largest cancer treatment centre in the State - and is the State's principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants.

Royal Perth Hospital Wellington Street Campus (RPH) is a 450-bed tertiary hospital focused on providing a range of complex and elective surgeries for adults. Home to the State major adult trauma centre, RPH offers tertiary-level emergency medicine, mental health and specialist medical services. It is also a premier teaching hospital and contribute to innovation and excellence in medical research and patient care.

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State rehabilitation service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State adult burns service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
