Western Australian Inter-Hospital Rotating Trainee Scheme 2025 Medical Intake

Registrar - Trainee - Rheumatology

Fixed Term Full Time and Fixed Term Part Time appointments will be available for 6-12 months with the possibility of extension(s).

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 30/10/2024.


Position Profile: 
In this position, the successful applicants will work under the supervision of the Rheumatologist and within a multi-disciplinary team to provide outpatient and inpatient care for Rheumatology patients provide high quality care. The Registrar will also provide teaching and support to Resident Medical Officers and Interns.

Multiple positions exist for Registrar – Trainee – Rheumatology, for appointment within WA Health to one of the 3 Primary Employing Health Services (PEHS) participating in the Inter-Hospital Rotating Scheme (IHRS): Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH); Royal Perth Hospital (RPH); or Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) with possible rotations to placement and rural health sites.

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is one of Australia's leading teaching tertiary hospitals. Located at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 4km from Perth city centre, SCGH provides a comprehensive range of clinical service including trauma, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, general medicine, general surgery and cardiac care. It is home to WA's only comprehensive cancer centre - the largest cancer treatment centre in the State - and is the State's principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants.

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.

Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) is Perth’s inner city, tertiary adult hospital and part of the Royal Perth Bentley Group. Home to the State Major Adult Trauma Service, RPH offers tertiary-level emergency medicine, mental health, complex and elective surgical care, and specialist medical services. It is also a premier teaching hospital and contributes to innovation and excellence in medical research and patient care.
