This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time appointments for 12 months with the possibility of extension(s).

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 02/11/2025.

Appointments for this position will not commence until 2026.


Position Profile:
Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital’s Medical Imaging Department is seeking enthusiastic and highly qualified Radiology Fellows to join our team for the 2026 intake. Positions available include:

  • 1 Interventional Radiology Fellow (commencing February 2026)
  • 1 Body Imaging Fellow (commencing February 2026)
  • 2 Body Imaging Fellows (commencing August 2026)
  • 1 Breast Fellow (commencing August 2026)

Our department is a leader in diagnostic and interventional radiology services, operating across three sites:

  • Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital
  • Osborne Park Hospital
  • King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women

Equipped with state-of-the-art imaging technology, we offer comprehensive services and perform a wide range of interventional procedures, particularly in oncology, hepatobiliary, urological, thoracic, and musculoskeletal specialties. We are also an accredited training and education provider with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR).

Each Fellow will have the opportunity to:

  • Engage in core clinical work sessions.
  • Participate in 1 academic session on average per week dedicated to research or professional development.
  • Attend relevant multidisciplinary/clinical meetings, working with high-end and clinically challenging cases.
  • Present findings to senior clinicians, enhancing communication and diagnostic skills.
  • Teach and mentor junior doctors and medical students.
  • Participate in after-hours, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts, as per the roster.

Interventional Radiology Fellow: This role focuses solely on interventional procedures, including liver interventions, tumor ablation/embolization, catheter and line insertions, and angiography/angioplasty.

Body Imaging Fellow: This is a flexible, general fellowship tailored to subspecialty interests, including oncology, hepatobiliary, urology, cardiothoracic, musculoskeletal, and gynaecology. Opportunities for imaging-guided procedures are also available.

Breast Fellow: Regular exposure to standard breast imaging diagnostic and interventional/localisation modalities, as well as exposure to contrast enhanced mammography and MRI (including MRI guided biopsy). The Breast Radiology services is embedded in a collaborative multidisciplinary team unit encompassing Breast Surgeons, Breast Physicians, Pathologists and allied health staff.

Area Profile:
Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is one of Australia's leading teaching tertiary hospitals. Located at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 4km from Perth city centre, SCGH provides a comprehensive range of clinical service including trauma, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, general medicine, general surgery and cardiac care. It is home to WA's only comprehensive cancer centre - the largest cancer treatment centre in the State - and is the State's principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants.

Osborne Park Hospital (OPH) is a > 200 bed secondary hospital offering a range of health services including a maternity and gynaecology unit (a satellite site of Women and Newborn Health Service) that provides obstetric care and gynaecology with low to moderate risk pregnancies, the Geriatric Acute and Rehabilitation Medicine service, and elective surgeries and procedures.
