Rural Psychiatry Training WA 2025 Stage 1 Intake Geraldton Hospital
South of the 26th Parallel Salary
Trainee Psychiatrist Year 1-7 $165,035 to $220,935 p.a. pro rata
(Inclusive of base salary $135,729 to $185,418 p.a. prorata, professional development$10,969 p.a. pro rata and 12.5% superannuation. Generous accommodation & relocation subsidies also available). Salary effective as of 3rd September 2024.
This is a recruitment process for a single appointment to Stage 1 Rural Psychiatry Training WA (RPTWA) Program, as part of the RANZCP Psychiatry Fellowship. The successful applicant will be based in Geraldton, Midwest Region with the position and employment contract being allocated in Geraldton commencing August 2025.
The role may be offered Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time appointment. A length of training contract will be offered, and classification level will be determined following an assessment and must align with the relevant training and WACHS employment requirements. The trainee must meet the RPTWA Program’s standard for satisfactory progress throughout the training period.
Applicants who identify as Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander, Māori or as being from rural origins background will automatically be offered an interview, providing they meet the eligibility criteria in accordance with the RANZCP Registration for Entry into Training, Education and Training Policy and Procedure. Position Profile:
This intake is for Stage 1 training entry in August 2025 in Geraldton, Midwest Region.
The successful applicant will work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary and medical teams. Under the supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist, this position provides assessment and management for clients requiring specialist psychiatric care. The successful applicant will be committing to a length of training contract with WACHS.
The Rural Psychiatry Training WA (RPTWA) program is overseen by the Western Australia Psychiatry Training Committee, in accordance with the requirements for obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). The training program provides clinical and formal supervised training experiences in rural generalist psychiatry.
