This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time appointments for 6 or 12 months with the possibility of extension(s).
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/12/2024.
Appointments for this position will not commence until 2025.
Position Profile:
This position provides a high-quality clinical service to older patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, geriatric syndromes, and frailty. Successful applicants will work under the supervision of a Geriatric Medicine Specialist and within a multidisciplinary team to address the medical needs of the patients and coordinate rehabilitation. They will conduct community assessments and provide teachings to junior doctors and allied health disciplines. Positions may involve working within Orthogeriatric, Perioperative and Rehabilitation in The Home services.

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is one of Australia's leading teaching tertiary hospitals. Located at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 4km from Perth city centre, SCGH provides a comprehensive range of clinical service including trauma, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, general medicine, general surgery and cardiac care. It is home to WA's only comprehensive cancer centre - the largest cancer treatment centre in the State - and is the State's principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants.
Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.

Current Geriatric Medicine IHRS Trainees will be eligible to extend your contract for 6-12 months subject to ongoing satisfactory progress in training, based upon satisfactory supervisor reports (to be submitted before 15th August 2024 to the selection panel - email: Tania.Pullella@health.wa.gov.au). Please note: A formal interview may be required.
