Inside the ASPIRE experience
Past participant Dr Geoffrey Zhang said ASPIRE was his most immersive rural medical experience.
"The program provided invaluable exposure to rural surgery, helping me to develop adaptability, decision-making skills, and confidence in procedural work."
“I've taken on greater responsibility across a range of areas, endoscopy, the operating theatre, emergency surgery, and teaching. The mentorship and hands-on experience have been invaluable."
Dr Zhang said it was the variation of the role, the team environment and country lifestyle that made his experience so memorable.
"The team dynamic is different in country WA - there's a real sense of support and mentorship, making it a great environment for learning."
"The relaxed pace, outdoor adventures, and strong community make rural living fulfilling. It’s not just a workplace-it’s a great place to live and grow."
