IMG Observership Program Perth
The IMG Observership Program is part of a WA Health initiative, ‘IMG Pathway to Registration Project’, which aims to support eligible IMGs. It is a pre-requisite that you have completed a minimum 6-week observership in a Western Australian hospital in the last 2 years prior to applying for the WBA Program. The program offers IMGs an opportunity to spend time in a Western Australian hospital observing how the Australian health system works. As part of this initiative, observership placements are currently being offered at Rockingham General Hospital, Armadale Health Service and Peel Health Campus. A similar program is also offered by WA Country Health Service.
About Observerships in Western Australia
Observership opportunities will be advertised on MedCareersWA.
Candidates who successfully complete the observership program may be eligible to apply to a WBA program – please note completion does not guarantee entry into a WBA program.
The length of an observership ranges from 6 to 16 weeks, depending on an individual’s level of experience and competency. Observerships are unremunerated clinical placement positions.
Clinical Observerships are usually advertised early in the calendar year, with the process taking approx. 4- 6 weeks from application to offer and accept stage. Observerships will usually commence shortly after the interview and screening process. Please note, these times are a guide only and subject to change.
Observerships are usually 6 – 10 weeks in length.
