South Metropolitan Health Services 2026 Mid-Year and 2027 Registrar Intake for Registrar - Service - Psychiatry at Fremantle Hospital.

This position has been designed for Pain Medicine trainees in the Professional Development Year of the Faculty of Pain Medicine Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FPMANZCA) to consolidate their knowledge in preparation for practicing as a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician. There is a focus on further strengthening skills in Interventional Pain Medicine, collaborative multi-disciplinary management of complex quaternary pain patients, co-ordinating and leading the Multi-disciplinary team and providing teaching opportunities for junior medical staff. It is a full-time position at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Pain Management Unit.

Positions are available as part of the PathWest Chemical Pathology training program. Medical Practitioners committed to entering or continuing in a training program in Chemical Pathology and who have appropriate qualifications registrable in WA are invited to apply to the 2027 training program. PathWest Laboratory Medicine WA provides a comprehensive, best practice Clinical Biochemistry service to WA tertiary and metro hospitals, private practices and regional services throughout the state of WA. All positions in the program are accredited for training to attain the Fellowship of the RCPA and for trainees seeking combined fellowships with the RACP. Successful applicants will be allocated to a 12 month appointment at the PathWest laboratory at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

Currently we are seeking suitably experienced applicant(s) to the position of Registrar – Service – Medical Education to join the Clinical Services / Medical Education Unit. This position liaises with and builds professional relationships with medical staff in order to provide support and advice and develops and evaluates interprofessional education (IPE) and interprofessional practice (IPP), involving medical staff. Furthermore, this position offers a balanced opportunity of 50% educational duties and 50% clinical responsibilities, with clinical components chosen by Registrars based on availability at RGH.

The WA Inter-hospital Advanced Training Program in Nephrology offers the opportunity for six- and twelve-month rotations in Nephrology, for Trainees registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for Advanced Training in Nephrology, dual Advanced Training in Nephrology and General Medicine or Advanced Training in General Medicine. Limited positions may also be available to applicants enrolled with other Specialty Training Programmes or to overseas applicants (subject to RACP and Medical Board approvals) who are currently enrolled in an equivalent Nephrology Advanced Training Programme and wish to gain further experience and Nephrology Training in Australia.  This programme provides comprehensive training in all aspects of Nephrology, including Dialysis and Acute Kidney Transplantation. In addition, this job also provides research opportunity and the opportunity to gain exposure in treating remote Aboriginal patients with Chronic Kidney disease.

As a successful applicant, you will have extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of vascular disorders. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all vascular patients admitted to SCGH while also being responsible for reviewing patient in the outpatient department. You will be expected to be involved in research, audit and teaching. The position will follow all training protocols and curriculum established and required by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. We are seeking to appoint suitably experienced Resident Medical Officers to our Emergency Department for a 12-month period. This would be an ideal position for RMO’s considering a career in Emergency Medicine who have yet to formally enter or apply for training. It is intended that this will assist in developing skills in Emergency Medicine in a focussed manner and potentially provide the pre-requisite six months of EM experience prior to applying for training. There is the opportunity to specifically develop skills in trauma care, bedside ultrasound and in clinical toxicology. In this role you will provide a high-quality clinical service to all hospital patients under the supervision of Clinical Supervisors including Consultants and Registrars within a multidisciplinary team. We are recruiting for Service Registrars specific to Vascular Surgery. This position provides and promotes high quality and patient centred care to inpatients and outpatients of the specialty under the supervision of consultant medical staff. It also provides training, supervision and education for Resident Medical Officers (RMOs). The successful registrars, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, will work to achieve National, State and Metropolitan Health Service performance standards and the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards. Three service positions are available, two full time clinical, the other will be one week of clinical work and one week of research. Please note that the on call commitments are the same for both jobs and you may be asked to cover clinical work even during the research week to ensure high quality patient care.

As a Fellow in Medical Oncology, you will work under the supervision of the department’s Consultants at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, to provide leadership and education to other medical practitioners, undertake clinical research and trial work, prepare, and apply for research grants, undertake outpatient clinics and clinical duties, and participate in research and quality improvement activities in the Oncology department. You will utilise your knowledge of clinical governance and research methodology, as well as your strong communication skills to provide clinical support, education and supervision to the Medical Oncology research department and junior medical staff; and will work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to support the Medical Oncology department at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and advance their clinical trial and research program to provide our patients with treatment options and access to new and innovative products and interventions.
