Registrar training
In Western Australia, certain service, trainee and senior registration specialty portfolios are split between Coordinating Health Service Providers to support centralised recruitment and allocation. This is known as the Integrated Hospital Recruitment Schedule (IHRS).
The system-wide approach to registrar workforce planning was adopted to support specialty supply and demand frameworks, a statewide vision for medical education and a stronger engagement with Health Service Providers and Specialist Colleges.
The three Coordinating Health Service Providers are East Metropolitan Health Service, South Metropolitan Health Service and North Metropolitan Health Service.
The below table explains each of the specialties on the IHRS. Where the campaign is listed as ‘hospital’, the recruitment process is driven by the hospital. Where the campaign is listed as ‘college’, the recruitment process is driven by the relevant specialist medical College.
Hospital driven campaigns are advertised on MedCareersWA.
