Two-factor authentication for MedCareersWA

From 16 November 2026, two-factor authentication (2FA) will be introduced for MedCareersWA applicant accounts.

Two-factor authentication provides an additional layer of security for your account. In addition to your password, you will use a code generated by an authenticator app when signing in to MedCareersWA.

Nurse, Person, Adult, Female, Woman, Male, Man, Face, Laptop, Mobile Phone

What do I need to do?

Before 16 November 2026

Please:

📧 check that your email address and contact details in MedCareersWA are up to date

📱 make sure you have access to a smartphone or tablet

🔐 download an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, Authy, 2FAS, 1Password or Bitwarden.

You do not need to set up 2FA in MedCareersWA before 16 November. Setup will occur when you sign in after 2FA has been introduced.

How do I set up 2FA?

The first time you sign in to MedCareersWA after 2FA is introduced:

  1. Sign in as usual
Enter your existing MedCareersWA email address and password.
  2. Follow the 2FA setup prompt
A QR code will be displayed on screen.
  3. Open your authenticator app
Select the option to add an account or scan a QR code.
  4. Scan the QR code
Use the authenticator app to scan the QR code displayed by MedCareersWA.
  5. Enter the verification code
Your authenticator app will generate a six-digit code. Enter this code into MedCareersWA to confirm and activate 2FA.
  6. Complete any additional verification
If you are a returning applicant who already has a MedCareersWA password, you will also be required to enter a one-time code sent to your email address.

Once setup is complete, you will use your password and the code generated by your authenticator app when signing in to MedCareersWA.

Keep your backup codes safe

During setup, you may be provided with backup codes.

Save these codes in a safe and accessible place. They can be used if you no longer have access to the device you originally used to set up 2FA.

Have you recently had duplicate MedCareersWA accounts merged?

If duplicate MedCareersWA accounts have recently been merged, 2FA will apply to your merged account.

Please use your primary email address when signing in and setting up 2FA.
