Rural Generalist Anaesthetics (RGA) Registrar

Locations:  Bunbury and Busselton, Western Australia

This is a Recruitment Pool for 2027 Fixed Term Full Time and Part Time appointments commencing in February  for 12 or 18 months, with the possibility of extension(s).

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 7th May 2027.  

POSITION PROFILE

If you have an interest in providing anaesthetics as part of your rural or remote medical practice, then this post will provide experience and training requirements that enable the successful candidate to become accredited as Rural Generalist Anaesthetist. This post has been accredited by ANZCA to complete the AC-RGA.

This role will involve working in the Busselton Health Campus Anaesthetics for 6 months, and Bunbury Hospital Anaesthetics for 6 months in order to achieve the AC-RGA. There is also the possibility of further anaesthetic time to consolidate your learning or 6 months in the Bunbury ICU to increase your critical care experience subject to availability. Between these 2 sites the successful candidate will gain great exposure to all relevant areas of anaesthetic practice, including Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, General Surgery, and many more.

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to rural or remote medicine. You will work alongside 16 Consultants and 3 Registrars and there is ample opportunity to gain good quality and quantity of anaesthetic volume of practice.  To go along with this, the successful applicant needs to be well motivated, organised and adaptable to working in a flexible role.

Essential

1. Must be a fellow or enrolled in training with RACGP or ACRRM.
2. Must have demonstrated a clear commitment to rural and remote medicine.

Desirable

1. Enrolment in the Rural Generalist Pathway of WA
