The position also provides extensive regional outreach to communities such as Burringurrah, Carnarvon, Exmouth, Meekatharra, Mt Magnet, Morawa and Mullewa. The team includes four consultants, six registrars, two RMOs and an intern, with registrars participating in a weekly on‑call roster. Strong onsite consultant supervision and comprehensive online educational resources support trainees.

  1. Kalgoorlie – Paediatric Advanced Trainee Registrar

The Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital position offers broad exposure across acute paediatrics, emergency care, neonatal HDU, outpatient services and remote clinics. Half of the trainee’s time is dedicated to teaching, research and academic or remote work. The role is well suited to trainees passionate about Aboriginal health and rural paediatrics, supported by an experienced team of rural paediatricians, registrars and RMOs. Duties include 24/7 roster participation with consultant backup, inpatient care across paediatrics, maternity and SCN, ED reviews, clinic work (including Griffiths assessments), attendance at MDT and M&M meetings, and teaching of junior staff and medical students. About WA Country Health Service

The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is the largest country health system in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, providing health services to approximately half a million people, including 45,000 Aboriginal people, over a vast two and a half million square kilometre area. The organisation comprises seven regions, with a strong network of public hospitals, health services and health centres located across rural and remote Western Australia. Our core business is the provision of quality, accessible health services to country WA residents and visitors.

Kalgoorlie – Goldfields

Kalgoorlie is the major referral centre for the Goldfields, servicing over 70,000 people across remote towns and Aboriginal communities. The region offers a diverse clinical mix due to its remote setting. Kalgoorlie–Boulder (population ~30,000) provides excellent schools, shopping and recreation, with Esperance’s beaches a four‑hour drive away and Perth less than an hour by air. The Goldfields is known for its strong sense of community, rich outback heritage, and iconic mining history, making it ideal for those seeking a blend of rural lifestyle, culture and wide‑ranging clinical experience.

Geraldton – Midwest

Geraldton is a coastal hub on WA’s Coral Coast, known for its Mediterranean climate and world‑class water sports, including kitesurfing, diving and fishing. Nearby national parks and the Abrolhos Islands offer excellent opportunities for camping, hiking and marine activities. Geraldton Hospital is the main referral centre for the Midwest, with a high‑activity ED (~36,000 presentations/year) and a diverse case‑mix that includes significant paediatric and Aboriginal health presentations. With 100 acute care beds and strong links to GRAMS, SJOG and local GPs, trainees gain broad procedural exposure, varied specialty learning and experience in rural and remote practice.
