Albany Hospital and the Paediatric Service

Albany Health Campus is a modern 130-bed hospital serving 80,000 residents in Albany and the Great Southern Region. The Medical and Children’s ward has 8 beds assigned to paediatric patients and additionally there is a 4 bed special care nursery, opened in July 2025, admitting neonates from 34 weeks gestation.  A new 32 bed medical ward is scheduled for completion in early 2027. It functions as a regional resource centre and secondary referral hospital, handling approximately 6500 paediatric presentations annually in its Emergency Department resulting in approximately 1200 admissions to the paediatric hospital beds. There are approximately 500 newborn deliveries a year.

The Paediatric Service at Albany Hospital is accredited for both basic and advanced training with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and additionally supports GP training with accreditation with both the RACGP and ACRRM for advanced paediatric skills.

You would join a highly motivated and friendly team of four consultants, two resident medical officers, a paediatric registrar and paediatric senior registrar together with our multidisciplinary team consisting of nursing staff, social worker, psychologist and a dietician to provide high quality paediatric service to the region. The roster is lifestyle friendly with the on call requirements split between the five consultants and supported by our senior paediatric registrar.

  • Discover Albany, where coastal beauty, rich history, and a relaxed lifestyle create the perfect blend of adventure and tranquillity.
