Join our team and be part of an exciting new Hospital in the Home service in the sought‑after Great Southern region.
This is a recruitment pool to fill 1.4 FTE across vacancies for permanent and fixed term appointments. Fixed Term roles may include options for extension.
Employment Types: Part Time and Sessional.
This pool will be regularly assessed with immediate appointment available.
Consultant Year 1–9: $412,161 – $523,436 per annum, pro rata*
Sessional Year 1- 9: $790.09 - $1,003.40 per session*
*The above salary is as per WA Health System Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2024 (inclusive of base salary, PD allowance and 12% superannuation). Subject to the assessment of qualifications, clinical skills and years of practice.

- Consultant Physician General Medicine - Sessional (0.6FTE). One session equals four hours.
About the Role
As a Consultant Physician in General & Acute Care Medicine at Albany Health Campus, you will be part of a team leading the delivery of highest-quality inpatient and outpatients specialist services to the Great Southern region. Your role will include, at different times on a 'block' roster, managing an inpatient team, managing a Home Hospital team of patients being managed in their homes, General Medicine outpatient clinics which includes referrals from hospital services and the community, managing a Consultation-liaison service that includes perioperative advice, General Medicine rapid access outpatient clinics to facilitate hospital avoidance (HomeSafe).
The role requires strong leadership in a large team to drive clinical quality and safety improvements, supervise, mentor and educate junior medical staff and support our innovative culture are we launch new programs to deliver the right care in the right place at the right time. You will be supervising a mix of registrars in Basic Physician Training, Advanced Physician Training, Intensive Care Medicine and Rural Generalist Medicine as well as RMOs and Interns who will become our future workforce as part of our 'grow your own' strategy.
In this a dynamic role that requires flexibility to adapt to different modes of service delivery, often with multiple competing demands. Rostered hours are generally 'blocked' together over a fortnight to provide service continuity (i.e. 0.5 FTE may be rostered as one week on, one week off). There is on-call and rostered overtime. The on-call duties are shared among a large team with Physicians generally supporting registrars who are first on-call for new presentations and deteriorating patients. There is support from intensivists who manage a six-bed HDU 24hours, 7 days a week.
Weekends are generally shared among consultants approximately one in four weekends rostered on. The role is terrific general and acute care medicine where you will be working in collaboration with a highly skilled team to the top of your scope of practice.
The successful Candidate will:
- Hold registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for General Medicine, or be eligible for Fellowship
- Substantial clinical experience relevant to the role
Albany Health Campus
Albany Health Campus is a modern 130-bed hospital serving 80,000 residents in Albany and the Great Southern Region. A new 32 bed ward is scheduled for completion in early 2027. It functions as a regional resource centre and secondary referral hospital, handling over 30,000 acute presentations annually in its Emergency Department. The hospital's medical services include a growing general medicine department with an integrated HomeSafe program, bridging acute care and community services. General Medicine features a mix of Physicians and Rural Generalists, supported by junior medical staff and training registrars. The hospital also offers specialised services in medical oncology, radiation oncology, subacute care, and palliative care, with a high dependency unit managed by rotating specialists.
