Director Clinical Training – Prevocational and Workplace Based Assessment

 

Renumeration: Year 1-9 $815.19 - $1038.13 per session*

*Above renumeration is inclusive of base sessional rate as of 3 September 2026, 12% superannuation, professional development allowance.

 

This is a vacancy to fill one Permanent – Sessional Appointment at 0.6 FTE in Kalgoorlie Health Campus.

 

About the Role

As the Director Clinical Training, you will provide leadership to support the education, training, supervision and welfare of doctors in training (interns, resident medical officers and registrars).   

This will include a particular focus on prevocational medical education program support, delivery and supervision and support of IMGs, including the delivery of the Australian Medical Councils Workplace Based Assessment program as an alternative to the clinical examination component of the Standard Pathway to general medical registration.

Working closely with WACHS Director Medical Education and Kalgoorlie Health Campus Director Medical Services you will contribute to the planning, development and implementation of a broad range of components of medical education and training and associated medical workforce development.

This role will suite a senior medical practitioner who is curious, ambitious, development-focused and motivated by the opportunity to lead change, solve complex problems, develop innovative approaches and create new opportunities for early career doctors and IMGs.

 

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Unrestricted General and Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Significant commitment to and experience in medical education and training.
  • A demonstrated commitment to medical practitioner development and wellbeing.
  • Experience applying contemporary adult learning principles, including curriculum development, assessment and remediation.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in innovation, research, education and junior workforce development.
  • The ability to work strategically and effectively across organisation boundaries and to translate ideas into practical outcomes.

 

About the Medical Education Unit

This Kalgoorlie-based role is positioned within the WACHS Medical Education Unit (MEU), a WACHS-wide service focused on strengthening medical education, training and workforce development across regional, rural and remote Western Australia. WACHS MEU is dedicated to ‘growing our own’ medical workforce in regional WA by supporting and delivering high quality medical education and training programs that lead to satisfying and rewarding careers.
