This is a vacancy for a Fixed Term Part Time (0.5 FTE sessional capacity) appointment for a 5-year period as Head of Psychiatry at Armadale Health Service. External applicants are advised that clinical FTE as a senior practitioner will be required, with Fixed Term Part Time opportunities available.

Position Profile: The Executive Director Mental Health is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced person into the position of Head of Psychiatry, reporting directly to the Executive Director Mental Health.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the Armadale Mental Health Service in collaboration with the Service Director, and the development and clinical service provision of Mental Health Services at Armadale Health Service (AHS). You will also deliver specialist mental health services within the campus, provide clinical leadership, coordination and direction for the multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering evidenced based best practice treatment and evaluates the provision of patient centred care within a recovery- based framework.

The areas of responsibility include providing leadership, orientation, training, supervision and education, where relevant, for doctors in training, Health Service Medical Practitioners and other health workers.

In collaboration with the Service Director you will work to achieve national, state and East Metropolitan Health Service performance standards and targets.

Area Profile: East Metropolitan Health Service provides a comprehensive range of public mental health services for ages; 16 years above, through community mental health services and hospitals.

The AHS is a general hospital focussed on providing a range of high-quality health care services in the community. The hospital is a part of Armadale Kalamunda Group. The AHS Mental Health Services provides inpatient, outpatient and community services for adults and older adults predominantly from the Armadale, Gosnells and Serpentine-Jarrahdale local government areas.

The AHS Mental Health Service provides inpatient services with 33 adult inpatient beds and a high dependency unit. The adult community mental health services provides outpatient services to adults (aged 18 to 65). The Assessment and Treatment Team (ATT) is based at Orchard Avenue Centre Armadale and is the first point of contact for all referrals to adult community mental health services at Armadale. The Clinical Treatment Team (CTT) based at Orchard Avenue Centre, receives all referrals via the ATT. Both the ATT and CTT teams comprise multi-disciplinary teams of doctors, nurses, social workers and clinical psychologists.
