Health Service Medical Practitioner Year 1 $347,438.56 to Year 3 $367,551.52 per annum;
Senior Medical Practitioner Year 1 $377,207.04 to Year 3 $401,095.52 per annum;
Rural Generalist Year 1 $368,522 to Year 5 $416,935 per annum;
(dependent on the candidate’s level of applicable experience and qualifications).
Salary listed above is inclusive of base salary under Arrangement A, 12% employer contributed superannuation, professional development allowance $34,696
Other allowances not included in the above salary include penalty rates, On-call and recall rates.

Are you a senior emergency physician ready for a role with clinical impact and systems influence? At Bunbury Hospital you’ll step into a department undergoing major growth, supported by a committed FACEM leadership team and embedded within a hospital entering a significant redevelopment phase. As an SMP you will provide high-level clinical care across the full acuity spectrum of emergency medicine. You will have the opportunity to lead and inspire junior medical staff in a robust training and supervision environment.
You can help us shape service delivery as we scale up for a major hospital redevelopment and Emergency Department expansion. The role will allow you to contribute to operational improvements and help embed the highest standards of care whilst growing and maintaining your own skillset.

Essential Criteria
- Hold current registration (or be eligible for registration) with the Medical Board of Australia through Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Be able to work independently in a busy, dynamic regional Emergency Department, with the ability to assess and manage a broad range of emergency presentations (including medical, surgical, paediatrics and trauma) without direct clinical supervision.
In Addition, it is Essential to have the following:
HSMP eligibility
- Competent Authority Experience: Successfully completed 7 full time years as a Registrar or 2 years as a Senior Registrar in a competent authority country (NZ, UK, Ireland, Canada, USA).
Or
- Non-competent Authority Experience: A Specialist in Emergency Medicine or General Practice Fellowship with relevant clinical experience in emergency medicine.
SMP eligibility
- Ability to work independently AND provide clinical supervision
- Ability to take on administrative duties including clinical leadership and service development
- Competent Authority Experience: Successful completion of 7 full time years as a Registrar and has completed 3 years at HSMP level or higher.
