Registrar - Trainee - Cardiology (Coronary Care Unit)

Please note this is for the 2026 Cardiology Trainee Registrar intake commencing 2nd February 2026.

This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time appointments for 6-12 months with the possibility of extension(s).

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 15/10/2025.

Salary: MP Year 1-7 $145,318 - $194,401 p.a. (inclusive of base salary, 11.5% superannuation and professional development allowance)


Position Profile: 
The Registrar Trainee Cardiology provides a high quality clinical service to hospital patients. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Cardiologist and within a multidisciplinary team to review the cardiovascular medical needs of the patients at Royal Perth Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital or Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and to provide teaching and support to Resident Medical Officer’s. Applicants must have completed the Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Part 2 clinical examination by the time of interview and be eligible for registration as an Advanced Trainee with the Royal Australian College of Physicians or equivalent. The occupants of these posts rotate amongst the various teaching hospitals including Fiona Stanley Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. Royal Perth Hospital will be administering these rotations for 2026.  

Applicants will be considered for various positions across the Metropolitan Health Service participating in the Inter-Hospital Rotating Scheme (IHRS) including: Royal Perth Hospital RPH); Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH); and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH).

Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) is Perth’s inner city, tertiary adult hospital and part of the Royal Perth Bentley Group. Home to the State Major Adult Trauma Service, RPH offers tertiary-level emergency medicine, mental health, complex and elective surgical care, and specialist medical services. It is also a premier teaching hospital and contributes to innovation and excellence in medical research and patient care.

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is one of Australia's leading teaching tertiary hospitals. Located at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 4km from Perth city centre, SCGH provides a comprehensive range of clinical service including trauma, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, general medicine, general surgery and cardiac care. It is home to WA's only comprehensive cancer centre - the largest cancer treatment centre in the State - and is the State's principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants.
