Please note this is for the 2027 Registrar Intake.
This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time or Part Time appointments for 6 or 12 months with the possibility of extension(s).
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/01/2027.
Appointments for this position will not commence until 2027.
Position Profile:
This position provides a high-quality clinical service to older adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, geriatric syndromes, and frailty. Successful applicants will work under the supervision of a Geriatric Medicine Specialist and within a multidisciplinary team. They will work in the hospital and/or community setting. They will provide teachings to junior doctors, students and other hospital staff.
Applicants will be considered for positions across the Perth Metropolitan and Country Health Services participating in the Inter-Hospital Rotating Scheme (IHRS) including:
- East Metropolitan Health Service - Royal Perth Bentley Group (RPBG), Mt Lawley Hospital, Armadale Health Service and St John of God Midland Public Hospital;
- South Metropolitan Health Service - Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group (FSFHG) and Rockingham General Hospital;
- North Metropolitan Health Service - Sir Charles Gairdner Osborne Park Hospital Group (SCGOPHCG) and Joondalup Health Campus; and
- WA Country Health Service - Bunbury Regional Hospital and Albany Health Campus.

Application Instruction for:
- New Applicants who wish to pursue Geriatric Medicine Advanced Training in 2027, including those who are in the process of completing RACP Basic Physician Training and are sitting the clinical examination in 2026.
- Dual trainees commencing Geriatric Medicine in 2027.
- Returning to training following an interruption to training (> 12 months) who have previously been selected into and commenced Geriatric Medicine Advanced Training.

Current Geriatric Medicine IHRS Trainees will be eligible to extend your contract for 6-12 months subject to ongoing satisfactory progress in training, based upon satisfactory supervisor reports (to be submitted before Monday 10/08/2026 4pm AWST to the selection panel - email: SCGH.GARM@health.wa.gov.au). Please note: A formal interview may be required.
