The IMG Pathway to registration project is a WA government-funded initiative that provides opportunity for IMGs who are Australian citizens or permanent residents currently living in WA and not currently registered to work as a medical practitioner in Australia, to obtain registration and employment in WA.
Under the auspices of this project, applications are invited from eligible applicants to participate in a 12- month Workplace-based Assessment (WBA) program at Rockingham General Hospital (RGH) or Armadale Health Service (AHS). Successful applicants will be offered employment as a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Year 1 and supported to undertake the AMC-accredited WBA program at the respective hospital. The program is anticipated to commence in January 2026 and runs for 12 months.
The WBA is a structured assessment program for IMGs undertaking the Australian Medical Council (AMC) Standard Pathway as an alternative to the AMC Clinical Examination. The program is overseen by the AMC Board of Examiners. Successful candidates are awarded the AMC certificate which is a requirement to apply for general registration with the Medical Board of Australia (MBA).
