WA Country Health Service – Bunbury Hospital is seeking Senior Registrars/Advanced Trainees in General Medicine to join their dynamic and supportive team in one of Western Australia’s most sought-after coastal locations.
This is a recruitment pool to fill Full Time, Fixed term appointments for 6 and/or 12 months with possibility of extension(s) commencing from December 2025.
Appointments from this pool may be made until 31/08/2026.
POSITION PROFILE
Bunbury Hospital is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for 2 FTE of Senior registrar/Advanced Trainee in General Medicine.
An opportunity exists for senior registrars/advanced trainees to spend 12 months in a regional setting while enjoying all the professional and lifestyle benefits of Bunbury Hospital and the South West region of Western Australia.
The General Medical department manages a total of 64 beds across two wards plus any additional outlying patients. You will have an opportunity to provide care and support to patients experiencing a wide range of conditions, largely managed by a general physician cohort.
Advanced Trainees in General Medicine work alongside the consultant physician group and interface with other specialties particularly, but not limited to, emergency, intensive care, cardiology, renal, respiratory and geriatrics. The role includes inpatient and outpatient management, supervision and teaching of doctors in training (service medical registrars, RMOs and interns) and participation in safety and quality, and quality improvement activities.
Advanced trainees are generally rostered day shifts including participation in the weekend consultant roster. Participation in the after-hours call roster may be negotiated with consultant backup.

SALARY AND EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
Senior Registrar Year 1-2, $223,525 to $233,666 p.a. pro rata*
*includes base salary $183,317 to $192,371, professional development allowance $16,259 and 12% employer contributed superannuation, pa pro rata.
- Salary effective as of 03/09/2025.
- Appointment will be made based on assessment of recent skills and experience.
Please note, employees who moves between different WA Department of Health entities will bring their entitlements (annual leave, long service leave, personal leave) with them. Taking a rural contract is not viewed as a break in service.

Essential:
a) Hold current registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
b) Minimum 6 months of Australian general medicine experience
Desirable:
a) Enrolment in the RACP Advanced Training pathway or have achieved an equivalent assessment outcome in General Medicine recognized by the RACP.
b) Experience working overseas as a Consultant Physician in General Medicine.
