Lead where it matters most
At Broome Hospital, part of the WA Country Health Service (WACHS), we are offering a fantastic and challenging opportunity for a Medical Administration Registrar to step into a RACMA-accredited training position that delivers more than just experience — it accelerates your journey to becoming a future health leader.
The Kimberley region is entering an exciting phase of growth and transition, with major service expansion, workforce redesign, and clinical redevelopment underway. This role places you at the centre of that transformation, contributing to real, system-wide change in rural and remote healthcare delivery.
The Role
As a Medical Administration Registrar, you’ll be an integral member of the Broome Hospital medical leadership team, working across the Kimberley to:
- Provide professional leadership and support in clinical governance, accreditation, and service redesign.
- Contribute to workforce planning, industrial engagement, and quality improvement.
- Participate in executive decision-making, risk management, and governance committees.
- Drive innovation in areas central to RACMA training — including system reform, health policy, Indigenous health equity, and organisational performance.
This post is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) and offers opportunities to complete RACMA requirements. Applicants must be current or prospective RACMA trainees with a demonstrated commitment to specialist training in medical administration.
Why WACHS Broome?
This is more than a registrar post — it’s an immersive leadership experience in one of Australia’s most unique and rewarding healthcare environments.
✔ Broome Hospital at the Centre of Kimberley Health
Broome Hospital is the regional referral centre (69 beds), supporting a network of district and small hospitals across Derby, Kununurra, Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek, plus 11 remote area nursing posts— providing broad exposure to high-volume, complex rural care.

✔ Leadership in Indigenous and Rural Health Equity
With nearly half the Kimberley population identifying as Aboriginal (49% compared with 3% statewide), this role provides unparalleled leadership exposure to Indigenous health partnerships, and equity-focused service delivery.
✔ Tackling Health Challenges That Matter
The Kimberley faces some of the nation’s most pressing health inequities, with mortality and preventable hospitalisations significantly above state averages — from cellulitis and ENT infections to chronic disease complications. As the MAR, you will help lead the governance and service improvements needed to change these outcomes in the Kimberley.
✔ Mentorship from Senior Leaders
Work closely with a network of FRACMA-qualified senior administrators across WACHS. Gain direct access to executives, statewide committees, and national forums where health policy and system design are shaped.

Living in Broome is not just a career step — it’s a life-changing experience that builds resilience, adaptability, cultural humility, and a strong sense of community.
Here you can:
- Make a visible difference in remote and Indigenous health.
- Gain hands-on leadership experience across multiple hospitals and services.
- Build lasting relationships with senior leaders and colleagues across WACHS.
- Become a trusted voice in shaping the future of rural health.
- Enjoy life in one of Australia’s most iconic and beautiful coastal regions.
