The WA Virtual Emergency Department (WAVED) is an initiative managed by the State Health Operations Centre (SHOC) in 2023, providing opportunity to offer patients with the option of being seen virtually in the comfort of their own home when safe and appropriate to do so, as opposed to presenting to a physical emergency department (ED). The overarching aim of WAVED is to improve access to care and provide treatment options that achieve equally good or better patient outcomes without the need to physically visit an Emergency Department. WAVED partners with multiple other agencies to help deliver the care the patient requires.
