WA Country Health Service (WACHS) are seeking to train the next wave of Paediatricians with many Advanced Trainee positions across the stunning regions of South West, Kimberley, Great Southern, Pilbara and Midwest.

This is a recruitment pool to fill several Fixed Term Full-time and Part time appointment for 6 and 12 months commencing in February 2027, with the possibility of extension(s).

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur.  Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/10/2026.

 

POSITION PROFILE

The positions are accredited for up to 12 months of Advanced Training in General Paediatrics, although applications for 6 months will be considered if necessary. We are seeking enthusiastic registrars to join our teams in all our hospital sites.

The hospital sites included within the recruitment process are: 

  • Albany
  • Broome (STP funded position)
  • Bunbury (STP funded position)
  • Geraldton (STP funded position)
  • Karratha

There is a strong team of resident consultant paediatricians providing close supervision and support in each of our hospitals while also giving opportunities for independent practice.

Candidates for positions which are funded through the Australian Government Specialist Training Program (STP) must be in Years 1, 2 or 3 of their Advanced Training.  They cannot complete their training until the end of the STP funded position.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

South of the 26th parallel – Albany, Bunbury, Geraldton

  • Registrar Year 1-7 $158,041 to $210,963 p.a.
    (*includes base salary $128,760 to $175,802 pa, professional development allowance $11,721 pa and 12.5% employer contributed superannuation**)
  • Senior Registrar Year 1-2, $231,259 to $241,750 p.a.
    (*includes base salary $188,817 to $198,142 pa, professional development allowance $16,747 pa and 12.5% employer contributed superannuation**)

North of the 26th parallel – Karratha, Broome

  • Registrar Year 1-3, $184,389 to $201,670 pa
    (*includes base salary $152,180 to $167,541 pa, professional Development allowance $11,721 pa and 12.5% employer contributed Superannuation**)
  • Health Service Medical Practitioner Years 1-6, $377,497 to $476,639 pa
    (*includes base salary $233,638 to $302,371 pa, professional Development allowance $35,737 pa, on-call allowance and 12.5% employer contributed Superannuation**) 

*  All rates increment by 3% on 3 September 2026.

**  Superannuation increase to 12.5% on 1 July 2026.
