Director of Clinical Services Mental Health - Broome

This is a Fixed Term, Full Time appointment at 1.0FTE, 80 hours per fortnight, to cover leave from 25 May 2026 to September 2026.

There is flexibility within the appointment period to accommodate availability, with the potential for extension subject to service requirements.

Consultant Year 1-6: $575,277 - $684,457 per annum, inclusive of base salary, oncall allowance p.a,  Professional Development allowance and 12% superannuation.

The above salary is as per WA Health System Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2024. This is subject to the assessment of qualifications, clinical skills, and years of practice.

 

Position Profile

Step into a key leadership position as the Director of Clinical Services Mental Health for the Kimberley region, you'll embark on a remarkable journey that goes beyond the ordinary. In partnership with the Regional Manager of Mental Health and AOD, the Clinical Director has primary responsibility for clinical governance and leadership in relation to clinical service delivery across the Broome Hospital Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU) and the Regional Community Based Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical governance, strategic development and leadership, ensuring adherence to national mental health standards, WA Mental Health Act (2014) and other legislation and regulations.
  • Deliver comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment that ensures best practice clinical interventions are provided to clients, their families and carers.
  • Collaborate with the mental health leadership team to align strategies with Commonwealth, State, and WACHS mental health initiatives.
  • Ensures delivery of a comprehensive regional psychiatric service, including consultation-liaison services to hospitals.
  • Provide mentorship and supervision to Registrars in training and other medical officers in accordance with RANZCP standards.
  • Provide clinical supervision to staff as part of performance development programs.
  • Participate in continuing professional development and contribute to education, training and ongoing professional development within the mental health service.

Eligibility to Apply:

  • Hold Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Hold Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage people effectively.
