Fellow - Cardiothoracic Surgery

This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time appointments for 6-12 months with the possibility of extension(s).

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 30/09/2026. 


Position Profile: 
The Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit at FSH is the largest cardiothoracic surgical unit in WA and leads the state in the delivery of all aspects of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery. The WA Heart Lung Transplant Unit located at FSH provides opportunities for exposure to all aspects of thoracic transplantation and advanced circulatory support. The service also performs around 80 robotic thoracic surgical procedures per year, with a dual console Da Vinci XI available. The service will have a strong teaching and research commitment and will have access to the latest hybrid operating theatres and state of the art ward facilities. Opportunities will exist for development of specialised skills in many niche areas of cardiothoracic surgery including transplantation, minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic surgery, complex aortic surgery and all aspects of thoracic surgery. Formal experience in the Cardiac Intensive Care is also an integral part of this position.

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
