Registrar - Trainee - Medical Oncology

This is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time appointments for 6 or 12 months with the possibility of extension(s).

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/12/2026. Appointments for this position will not commence until 2027.

Salary: MP Year 1-7 $128,760 - $175,802 p.a. (plus 12% superannuation and professional development allowance)


Position Profile:
Applicants will be considered for various positions across the Metropolitan Health Service participating in the Inter-Hospital Rotating Scheme (IHRS) including Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) and Royal Perth Hospital (RPH). Successful applicants may be appointed to any of the participating health sites for 6 or 12-month placements.

Current Medical Oncology Advanced Trainees requiring a position in 2027 to complete their second year of core-AT will be eligible to extend the current contract for 6-12 months in 2026 subject to satisfactory performance, which can be evidenced by a satisfactory term assessment report.

Current Medical Oncology Advanced Trainees who will have completed two years of core-AT at the end of the current clinical year and wish to reapply for this position as a non-core year of AT will need to reapply.

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is one of Australia's leading teaching tertiary hospitals. Located at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 4km from Perth city centre, SCGH provides a comprehensive range of clinical service including trauma, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, general medicine, general surgery and cardiac care. It is home to WA's only comprehensive cancer centre - the largest cancer treatment centre in the State - and is the State's principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants.

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State rehabilitation service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State adult burns service. FSH is the site of the state allogeneic transplant centre and haemophilia unit.

Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) is a 450-bed tertiary hospital focused on providing a range of complex and elective surgeries for adults. Home to the State major adult trauma centre, RPH offers tertiary-level emergency medicine, mental health and specialist medical services. It is also a premier teaching hospital and contribute to innovation and excellence in medical research and patient care.
