This is a development opportunity being offered as a Senior Medical Practitioner Year 1-9. Level and Increment will be determined by the successful applicant’s skills, knowledge, and ability in the role.
This is a Permanent sessional appointment at 10 Sessions / 40 hours per fortnight (0.5 FTE).
Position Profile:
An exciting and rare opportunity is available for a Specialist Palliative Care Consultant to join the Paediatric Palliative Care and Hospice Service for Western Australia based at Perth Children’s Hospital.
The Specialist Paediatric Palliative Care service is expanding to include a state-of-the-art, 7-bed Children’s Hospice which will be the first of its kind in Western Australia, providing specialised palliative care for children living with life limiting conditions aged from birth to 18 years.
In this role, you will:
- Provide senior clinical leadership and expertise in paediatric palliative care across hospital, outpatient, outreach, and hospice settings, including supervision of junior medical staff.
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of paediatric palliative care services locally and statewide, contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement, and research initiatives.
- Collaborate and liaise with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders, including community services, government, and non-government organisations, to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care.
- Support education, training, and professional development, including teaching health professionals, engaging in research, and maintaining ongoing specialist registration and peer review participation.
