Position Profile and Role
Fiona Stanley Hospital Mental Health Service (FSH MHS) is currently seeking a Health Service Medical Practitioner - Psychiatry to support our services across Fiona Stanley Hospital and Cockburn Health.
This 0.8 FTE (64 hours per fortnight) opportunity offers a fixed-term contract until 01 September 2029, with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency.
We require a candidate with extensive experience in psychiatry including women's mental health, eating disorders, and alcohol and other drugs (AOD)
In this role, you will provide and promote high quality and patient-centred care to the clients of FSH MHS under the supervision of Consultant Psychiatrist. You will work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, in accordance with the hospital’s core values of Commitment, Accountability, Respect and Excellence (CARE) to achieve National Standards for Mental Health Service, South Metropolitan Service (SMHS) performance standards and the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards.

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is an 863-bed tertiary and quaternary hospital providing a broad range of specialised healthcare services. These include the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, dedicated mental health facilities, maternity, paediatric and neonatal care, as well as the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers highly specialised treatments such as heart and lung transplantation and hyperbaric medicine.
Cockburn Health is a contemporary 75 bed Mental Health Hospital which opened on 5th August2024. This is a modern and welcoming facility where you will experience being part of acompassionate and supportive team
South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) Mental Health delivers comprehensive public mental health care through a network of community mental health services, hospitals and community health centres. Across Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospital Mental Health (FSFH Mental Health) and Peel and Rockingham Kwinana Mental Health (PaRK Mental Health), specialist services are provided across the South Metropolitan region, supporting consumers with accessible, collaborative and high-quality mental health care. SMHS Mental Health will soon open a new state-of-the-art facility at Fremantle Hospital designed to offer expanded and modern mental health services for our community. The three-storey space will provide an additional 40 mental health beds and a 24-hour Mental Health Crisis Centre, ensuring compassionate and innovative care for those who need it most.
