WA Country Health Service, Bunbury Hospital is seeking Advanced Trainee Paediatric Registrars for Fixed Term full time and part time appointments for 6 and 12 months commencing in February 2026, with possibility of extension(s).

POSITION PROFILE
Join us for a rewarding paediatric experience in a family-friendly environment, where passionate Paediatricians are committed to nurturing Advanced Trainees.
Our service includes general paediatrics with a neonatal component, handling infants born at 34+ weeks or stabilizing and transferring <34 weekers. Explore our medical outpatient clinics, including a rapid review clinic and a neonatal follow-up clinic. Our busy Emergency Department has over 25%of paediatric presentations.
As a Regional Paediatric Hub, on-call responsibilities involve fielding calls from local towns with consultant support. Our facility boasts a 12-bed paediatric ward, a 6-bed Special Care Nursery, and over 1200 births annually. We hold RACP accreditation for General paediatrics with a neonatal component, Rural Term, and Centre of Community Child Health.
Applicants must hold full and unconditional General Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
There is currently one 12 month or two 6-month positions available in hospital based general paediatrics.
Our staffing and support include a dedicated team of 4 x 0.4 paediatricians, 1 x 1 full-time paediatrician, and Head of Department. There's always a paediatrician on-site from 0800 to 1600, with after-hours on-call support just 10-15 minutes away.
Engage in enriching teaching and learning experiences with weekly Paediatrics Playlunch lectures, video conferences to Perth Children’s Hospital grand rounds, monthly paediatrics x-ray meetings, bimonthly paediatrics neurology meetings, and weekly hospital Grand Rounds. Benefit from 4 hours of rostered non-clinical time every second Monday and actively participate in ED teaching, Ward Teaching, and Rural Clinical School Teaching.
Your profile of work will involve collaboration with an on-call paediatrician with 24-hour resident coverage. With 3-4 nights per week of registrar cover and consultants contributing, you'll handle varied responsibilities, including general paediatrics, ED admissions, Special Care Nursery, and attending deliveries.
