Theatre Logbook
A theatre logbook summary is required to provide an overview of your procedural experience and support assessment of your clinical exposure and readiness for the position.
This template provides guidance for completing your theatre logbook. Applicants may choose their preferred format; however, Excel files must be converted to PDF before uploading to the application portal.
Selection Criteria
Applicants for the Service Surgical Registrar position must address the selection criteria, demonstrating their surgical experience, clinical capability, and suitability for the role. A list of essential and desirable selection criteria can be found in the JDF attached to the job advertisement.
Important Update
Based on valuable applicant feedback, we are introducing a new assessment and allocation model to improve fairness and transparency in the recruitment process.
What’s changing?
- Applications will now be assessed based on your specialty preference, rather than hospital preference.
- Your first-preference specialty will be responsible for assessing your application.
- All applications will be reviewed by a centralised panel for each specialty, comprising representatives from participating Health Service Providers (HSPs).
- The panel will assess candidates against the Selection Criteria and assign an overall merit score.
- Applicants will be allocated positions by the centralised specialty panel based on merit and vacancy availability.
- Offers will be issued by the allocated Primary Employing Health Service.
What this means for you
- The application process remains largely unchanged.
- The key difference is:
- you now preference your specialty first,
- followed by your preferred HSPs.
This update is designed to enhance consistency, fairness, and transparency across the selection process.
