PSYCHIATRY TRAINEE REGISTRAR
FEBRUARY 2027 INTAKE
Position Reference Number: Pool
Location: Various, across the WA Metropolitan area
Salary: AMA Year 1 – 7 $145,044 – $198,142 (in accordance with AMA Industrial Agreement 2024)
Job Description: Successful applicants will be admitted to the Western Australian Metropolitan Training Program (WAMPT) and be employed as Psychiatry Registrars by one of the Metropolitan Health Service Providers (HSPs) below. - South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS)
WAMPT provides clinical and formal supervised training experiences in accordance with the requirements for obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), overseen by the Psychiatry Training Committee Western Australia (WA PTC).
Eligibility and Essential selection criteria:
1. Registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.
2. Eligible for admission to the training program of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists for basic training (stages 1-3).
3. Demonstrated desire to obtain knowledge of/and experience in biological and psychotherapeutic interventions.
4. Demonstrated effective communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
6. Understanding of culturally safe practice, including provision of culturally appropriate services to indigenous families and communities.
Applicants are not required to prepare a separate statement addressing the selection criteria but must complete the CV proforma.
Referees: It is highly desirable for referees to be current supervisors or managers who can attest to your ability and competence. All references should reflect recent experiences.
