      Exciting Opportunities for Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Perth across 4 areas:

      • Inpatient Unit (Ward 5A), Perth Children’s Hospital
      • The Acute Care and Response Team
      • Gender Diversity Service
      • Community CAMHS

      We currently have multiple permanent vacancies available across the following areas. Fixed Term appointments (with the possibility of extension/s) will also be considered:

      • 2 x 1.0 FTE - CAMHS Crisis Connect
      • 1 x 1.0 FTE - PCH Inpatient Unit
      • 2 x 1.0 FTE - Community CAMHS
      • 1 x 0.4 FTE - Gender Diversity Service

      About the Role: As a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Psychiatry. Your contributions will extend to teaching, research, quality improvement, and administrative activities within your service area.       Key Responsibilities:

      • Provide high-quality clinical management and treatment to patients of the service.

      • Actively contribute to teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives.

      What we are looking for:  The ideal candidate will be registered, or eligible for specialist registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Fellowship (or pending Fellowship) with the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABPN certified) or New Zealand with 3 years Consultant/Specialist level work experience. Completion (or approaching completion) of the Certificate in Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (RANZCP) or equivalent is highly desirable.

      About the services:

      CAMHS Crisis Connect

      Provides phone and online videocall support for children and young people who are experiencing a mental health crisis, as well as support and advice to families, carers, and professionals in the community. This service also sees children and young people up to the age of 16 years in Perth Childrens Hospital Emergency Department.

      Inpatient Unit (Ward 5A), Perth Children’s Hospital

      The Inpatient Unit (Ward 5A) is the 20 bed tier-4 State-Wide Service offering inpatient mental health care for young people up to 16 years old. You will be supported by a full Multidisciplinary team and junior doctors. Up to 3 psychiatrists share responsibility for the patients.

      Gender Diversity Service

      The Gender Diversity Service (GDS) is a specialist outpatient service for the assessment and care of children and adolescents experiencing gender diversity issues.

      Community CAMHS

      Community CAMHS has 10 services across the metropolitan area. Community CAMHS see infants, children and adolescents with various mental illnesses resulting in significant impact upon their functioning. We would work with you to match you to a clinic that suits your circumstances.
