Salary: MP Year 1-9 $365,665 - $465,018 p.a. pro rata or $700.96 - $891.41 per session (inclusive of base salary and applicable allowances)

We are currently seeking highly skilled, motivated and dedicated Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons who have a special interest and training in the sub-speciality of Foot & Ankle.

In this role, you will contribute to and assist in leading the SMHS's Orthopaedic Departments. As such, you may be required to work across multiple sites, including Fiona Stanley Hospital, Fremantle Hospital and Rockingham General Hospital.

All departments maintain a strong focus on research and education while providing the highest standard of clinical care. Successful applicants will actively contribute to the unit's teaching programme, drive specific research activities, and take a lead role in departmental audits.

As a Consultant within our multidisciplinary team, you will:

  • Lead the provision of high-quality acute orthopaedic care, prioritising safe, timely and patient-centered services.
  • Lead and promote an organisational culture built on accountability, respect, excellence and shared commitment.
  • Actively address clinical risks and delays in individual patient care pathways.
  • Educate and supervise junior medical staff and other health care staff.
  • Work with heads of specialty and consultant peers to effectively manage unplanned and planned patient demand.
  • Achieve national performance outcomes and meet the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.

Successful applicants will be required to undertake clinical shifts as directed including participation on the on-call, after-hours and weekend roster.

FSH also delivers highly specialised treatments such as heart and lung transplantation and hyperbaric medicine.

Adjacent to the hospital, the FSH Medihotel operates within the Aegis Health Building and provides an innovative extension of FSH healthcare services, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Fremantle Hospital is a 300-bed specialist hospital delivering high-quality aged care, mental health, rehabilitation, planned surgery and medical services. Supporting the tertiary and quaternary services of Fiona Stanley Hospital, Fremantle Hospital provides a broad range of specialist care across areas including orthopaedics, general and plastic surgery, ENT, specialised hand surgery, ophthalmology, urology, vascular, endoscopy, dental and maxillofacial, and women’s health services.
