Information for Specialist International Medical Graduates.
To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector, it is essential that you are an Australian citizen or hold permanent residency status in Australia.
We welcome applications from Specialist International Graduates (SIMGs); however, are only able to appoint those who have received a determination of ‘Substantially Comparable’ due to the limitation in supervision provisions. The RACGP / ACRRM fellowship assessment determines whether the training and qualifications of SIMG’s are comparable to those of Australian-trained specialists in general practice. This assessment is crucial for ensuring that all practitioners comply with Australian standards.
Please Note: SIMGs under RACGP or ACRRM supervision period as part of the college assessment process will be placed on a Health Service Medical Practitioner (HSMP) (or as appropriate) contract until Specialist registration is reflected on the AHPRA website.
