Fixed Term Full Time and Fixed Term Part Time appointments will be available for 6-12 months with the possibility of extension(s).
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 28/09/2025.
Position Profile:
Since opening in early Feb 2015, the ED has developed into a high functioning unit that is the busiest ED in the state, and one of the busiest in Australasia. It has a diverse case mix including obstetrics, burns, cardiothoracic, and transplant medicine.
The ED has 85 beds including a 15-bed resuscitation area and a separate paediatric triage and treatment area. The department saw over 110,000 presentations in the last year, with 25 per cent of those being paediatric. As such, this department provides an excellent opportunity for paediatric skill development.
The Senior Registrar role includes a combination of supervised shifts working with an Emergency Physician and supervisory shifts running a pod within our ED as the senior doctor.
In addition to the clinical component of the position we provide opportunity to develop the Senior Registrar’s non-clinical skills.
The ED has a comprehensive TS4 and OSCE teaching program, an active emergency medicine academic unit as well as an active ED ultrasound unit with training opportunities for Senior Registrars and Registrars. Interested Senior Registrars should indicate if interested in a special skills post, combining clinical ED time with non-clinical duties such as ED Education and Simulation, ED Geriatrics, Research and Ultrasound.

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service.
