This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time, Fixed Term Full Time appointment/s with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

Position Profile: The Consultant - Addiction Medicine leads the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist alcohol and other drug services to patients of Next Step Services. Next Step Services includes outpatient services, integrated Community Alcohol and Drug Services, the Inpatient Withdrawal Unit, outpatient and medical support to young people through integrated Drug and Alcohol Youth Services, and the Community Program for Opioid Pharmacotherapy and the Drug and Alcohol Clinical Advisory Service.

This position is based at the South Metro Community Alcohol and Drug Service Rockingham

The position promotes patient safety and quality of care. Provides leadership, orientation, training, supervision, and education, where relevant, for doctors in training, Health Service Medical Practitioners, and other health workers.

In collaboration with the Head of Department (Next Step Services) and other Consultants works to achieve national, state and EMHS performance standards and targets. Works within the scope of clinical practice as defined and recommended by the EMHS Area Medical Credentialing Committee.

Area Profile: Rockingham Peel Group is part of the South Metropolitan Health Service, one of the fastest growing health services in Western Australia and comprises two hospital campuses, Rockingham General Hospital and Murray District Hospital, in addition to community and mental health services across Peel, Rockingham and Kwinana. As the flagship hospital, Rockingham General is focused on providing high quality general medical, surgical and mental health services as well as outpatient care. Murray District Hospital offers inpatient medical services, palliative care and allied health services.

  • Outpatient services at East Perth and via integrated Community Alcohol and Drug Services at six metropolitan locations.

  • An onsite pharmacy service based at East Perth.
  • Outpatient and inpatient youth services via the Integrated Drug and Alcohol Youth Service.
  • Community programs including the Community Pharmacotherapy Program and the Drug and Alcohol Clinical Advisory Service.
