We are strengthening our Emergency Department team with 4.4 FTE available Emergency Medicine Consultants.

This is a recruitment pool to fill Permanent (Sessional, Part-Time or Full Time), Fixed Term (Sessional, Part-Time or Full Time) or Casual appointments.

Fixed Term appointments include the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency. 

Salary: Consultant Year 1-9 is $395,490 to $502,265 p.a. (inclusive of base salary, 12% superannuation and applicable allowances)

Flexible working arrangements considered.

Appointments from this pool are available until 31/01/2026.

About the role:

As an Emergency Medicine Consultant at Kalgoorlie Health Campus, you will have a crucial role in delivering comprehensive clinical services and leading a multi-disciplinary team to provide top-tier emergency care.

Within the ED at the Kalgoorlie Health Campus, you will lead, support, and educate multi-disciplinary teams consisting of Senior Medical Practitioners, Junior Medical Officers, nursing staff, administrative staff, and support staff. You’ll collaborate with organisations like the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the Rural Clinical School of Western Australia, and the WACHS Command Centre, you will work cohesively to manage the unique cases presented, all while delivering exceptional emergency care to the community.

We welcome applications from Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) who are passionate about making a difference in regional emergency medicine. While Kalgoorlie Health Campus offers a dynamic and rewarding work environment, it is not currently able to provide the level of supervision required during the supervision period. As such, eligible SIMGs must be open to undertaking a supervised placement at another WACHS site before relocating to Kalgoorlie. A strong commitment to completing this supervision and transitioning to a long-term role in Kalgoorlie is essential.

About the Emergency Department:

Kalgoorlie Hospital Emergency Department is the primary emergency care hub for the Goldfields region, managing over 25,000 presentations each year. Approximately 25% of patients identify as Aboriginal, highlighting the departments’ vital role in delivering culturally responsive care and improving health outcomes for a diverse population. The ED operates 24/7 with a rotating roster that includes day, evening, and late shifts (08:00-18:00, 10:00-20:00, or 13:00-23:00), along with on-call coverage from 23:00 to 8:00 to ensure continuous emergency services.
